Jon Hornaday joined PCA in 1973, shortly after purchasing his 914 2.0, in what was then the Longhorn Region. His sports car addiction, however, began in 1962, with his Austin-Healey 3000 MkII, and he became an active member of the Texas Spokes Sports Car Club, participating in autocross, hillclimbs and rallys, serving as president of Spokes in 1966. He became a charter member of the PCA Hill Country Region in 1977 when it was created as a spinoff from Longhorn. His previous Porsches, after the 914, included a 944, Boxster and now Cayman (his third).
He and his wife Rhoda are both graduates of UT (journalism and interior design, respectively). After a lifetime career on the administrative staff of the Texas Medical Association, Jon retired at the end of 2005. The couple enjoys their Austin home and travel, both internationally and in the U.S, especially in their Cayman, having attended five Parades, three Treffens, plus four Porsche Palozzas, as well as numerous other travels across the country. The 10-day, 5-country Fast Lane Travel trip in Europe in a 911 Carrera S was a special treat, as well numerous other international trips.
