In 2003, Tuffy and his wife purchased their first Porsche, a 2003 996 Cabriolet. They joined the Potomac Region of PCA in November 2003. He started doing track events in 2004 and became interested in volunteering in 2005 as a way to meet more people in the Region. From 2005 – 2015 he served in various positions with Potomac. Starting out as Club Race Volunteer Coordinator, DE Registrar, DE Cashier, DE Chair, Vice President and President (Two Terms). He stayed on the Potomac Executive Council through 2015 with primary responsibility for oversight of DE and Club Race. In 2014, he was selected as the Potomac DE Chair for a second time and served in this position until the end of 2015. In 2011, He was appointed the Zone 2 Secretary and served in this position until December 2015.
He has also held national staff positions with PCA. In 2010, he was selected as the PCA National Awards Chair and held this position in 2011 – 2012. In 2012, he was selected as the PCA Porscheplatz/Car Corral Coordinator and stayed in this position through 2016.
In January 2016 he and his wife and transferred their membership to the Hill Country Region. They were the 1000 and 1001 members to join Hill Country. He had met HCR President Tracey Gross previously and told her he was interested in volunteering with HCR. Tracey agreed, and he started out as the Dealer Liaison coordinator for HCR. In March 2016, HCR Secretary Pat Unzicker had to step down as Secretary and he was appointed the Interim HCR Secretary. He was elected Vice President for 2017 and President for 2018.
He says the best thing about working for HCR is it a diverse and growing Region. HCR has many new members and many experienced members all committed to making HCR an exemplary Region. He enjoys meeting HCR members and watching everyone work together as the Region continues to grow and prosper.
